Welcome To AOI Bhubaneswar

Association of Otolaryngologist of India, Bhubaneswar Branch (AOIBB) was established in the year 2013 with the main aim of developing the ENT science through different scientific activities which will help the ENT surgeons of our state to serve people better.

Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha, represents a perfect blend of traditional charm and modern day charisma. It has evolved as an epicenter of modern health care in the entire eastern part of India. Bearing in mind the growth of other branches of medical sciences with surprising speed, a handful of dedicated and committed ENT doctors started this association. Their primary intention was to make their presence felt and evolve ENT care as a distinguished medical discipline through frequent scientific programmes in this beautiful city of Bhubaneswar. With the blessings of Lingaraja Mahaprabhu, the Lord of the Land, it has served its purpose, from its inception to till date with unbelievable sincerity and regularity.

The branch of ENT, the most neglected branch in Corporate Hospitals & Medical colleges, over the years has evolved as one of the most sophisticated, challenging and demanding branch all over the world. Starting from Endoscopic skull base surgery to lateral skull base surgery to Laryngo Tracheal reconstructive surgery, it has spread its roots into many challenging areas which needs sufficient scientific deliberations to ignite the young minds. AOIBB has succeeded in conducting scientific deliberations on new themes on every passing year. AOIBB is now a 7 year old healthy child with normal milestones.

Our Journey

The journey so far was not easy. Way back in 2009, on one fine evening, when quite a few ENT surgeons had gathered to attend a clinical meeting, then the idea of forming an Association was conceptualized. Since then, we have conducted meetings innumerable times to materialize our dream. Regular monthly CME programmes were started to attract and motivate all ENT surgeons of the city to join hands with us. Gradually we started getting support and cooperation from all the ENT surgeons of Bhubaneswar. Many senior ENT surgeons from outside Odisha also encouraged us to proceed with our endeavor. By conducting regular meetings we started the process of enrolling life members and with 20 founder members we initiated the process of framing the “Memorandum & Bye-laws” of AOIBB. Then all the formalities were completed one by one and finally our Association was registered under the Society’s Act of Government of Odisha,  on 18th May 2015, vide regd no 2021-07/2015-2016, following which it was affiliated by the parent body of AOI.

It has been decided by all the members that the first 50 members will be considered as founder members. The first Governing body was formed with unanimous selection with the following members in their respective posts and it was decided in the subsequent General Body meetings that this Governing Body will remain functional till the association get a strong foothold.

On every passing year we are trying to add certain new things to increase the impact of our conference on the attending delegates so as to extend our purview far and wide; beyond every boundary. We are on a spree of broadening our perspective to attract more number of delegates in each succeeding year and to establish this organization as the numero uno. Post Graduate Paper Presentation Award Session was instituted in the year 2018. Dr. Kartika Samantray Memorial Oration along with AOIBB Oration was started premiered on 2019. The Association extends its heartfelt thanks to Professor Kabikant Samantray who has sponsored this memorial oration in memory of his late father who was a reputed ENT surgeon.

It has been decided by the governing body that AOIBB will felicitate one or two stalwarts of ENT who has made our state and country proud with their significant contribution in the field of ENT. To typify this, AOIBB honoured two stalwarts of ENT of our State, Professor Abhoya  Rayaguru from Sambalpur and Professor Maguni Sahu from Cuttack on 2019.

We have many such dreams in our mind which will be materialized by the strong cooperation of our fraternity. With all your cooperation AOIBB will definitely touch new milestones in the near future and its vibration will be felt all over India. LONG LIVE AOIBB.
